“WE NEED MONEY.”

Hello, Milwaukee Paranormal Conference fans. Some of you I know, some of you I’m meeting for the first time.

One of the great things about MPC is that it’s always been a DIY style event, a “People’s Holiday” as our friends at the Riverwest 24 like to say. We are not bankrolled by a casino, a talent agency, or a production company. “We” are one crazy guy and a lot of talented volunteers who dedicate their time and skills because they believe the MPC is a fantastic, interesting, and fun event. We have social capital for days, and I am proud of that.

Actual monetary capital has always been difficult. Right now we need to meet some financial deadlines. Here’s how you can help!

Buy tickets to the conference. Our Sunday conference is $10 and that includes access to speakers in two different rooms, two vendor rooms, and a workshop room. Programming covers a mix of paranormal investigation, cryptozoology, UFOs, and other topics. Tickets here: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3070451

Buy tickets to our Friday/Saturday activities. We have a lot of unique, one time only activities going on the night of Friday the 13 and all day Saturday the 14. Some of these are free, the others are very fairly priced. Many of these have a limited capacity, help us sell these out! We have links for tickets to most of the events, still need to fill in a couple blanks. Schedule with ticket links here: https://milwaukeeparacon.com/2017/08/25/milwaukee-paranormal-conference-2017-schedule/

Buy merch and say hi. This week we will be tabling two events.

Market of the Macabre is this Friday, Sept. 8 at Kochanski’s Concertina Beer Hall, 1920 S. 37th St. 7pm-Midnight. We will be selling tickets and merch from last year. T-shirt blow out sale: $5. Free event– lots of other great vendors and music, too!
EVENT PAGE: https://www.facebook.com/events/335117750262245/

MKE Para Con Rummage Sale is this Sunday, Sept.10 at Riverwest Public House, 815 E. Locust St., 11am-3pm. We will have tickets, merch, crafts, and oddities…lots of strange and unique items. If you have items to donate, e-mail us or stop by at 11 with the items.
EVENT PAGE: https://www.facebook.com/events/1368560359931634/

Make a donation. We still have a GoFundMe page from last year, chipping away at debt from last year. Any donations are appreciated: https://www.gofundme.com/saveMPC

-Get a vendor table. After examining the Irish Center today, we realized we have more table space then we thought, which is great because vendor tables help pay our “rent.” Tables are $60 for the day. Get more info by e-mailing: milwaukeeparacon@gmail.com

-Spread the word. Share our event on social media. Get your friends excited. If you want to print flyers to hang/ distribute, we can send you a PDF. E-mail: milwaukeeparacon@gmail.com

-Volunteer. Volunteers are an important part of making the events go smoothly. Volunteers get into the conference for free. Get on our growing volunteer list by e-mailing: milwaukeeparacon@gmail.com

If we can get people to start rallying and contributing in the categories listed above, we will have a great 2017 conference!

Forest Home Cemetery: Beer Barons Tour

fhc

Saturday, October 14, 10:30am-noon. Meets at Forest Home Cemetery offices (enter gate 26th and Forest Home Ave.)
$7, tickets must be bought in advance: www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3070461
This is a chance to take a lovely autumn guided tour and learn some Milwaukee history. Tickets are limited to 30, last year’s tour SOLD OUT, so by tickets now!

Milwaukee was made famous by the brewing industry during the 1800s and early 1900s. This tour visits the gravesites of all the major brewers and briefly reviews the role of the brewery in Milwaukee history.  Brewer such as Pabst, Schlitz, Blatz, Gettlemen, Graff, Bills, Falk and many other lesser known brewers are covered in this very popular tour. If you have hoisted a beer or two this tour is for you.

Tour guide Robert Giese is a Milwaukee history buff who has given tours with Historic Milwaukee for a number of years. He has written extensively about Milwaukee’s brewing families, most of them at Forest Home, and developed the Beer Barons tour as an extension of his research. Bob has also developed a tour on Famous Milwaukeeans who helped create the industrial past and shaped Milwaukee industry and culture for the past 175 years. His Mayors tour is one of our newer tours. Forest Home Cemetery is final resting place to 27 of Milwaukee’s 44 mayors.

David Parr’s Midnight Magic Show

Friday, October 13, 2017
Brumder Mansion Theater: 3046 West Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Doors open at 11:30pm. Show time at Midnight. Tickets $15. Age 17 and up.

Tickets: www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3079241

On Friday, October 13, magician David Parr, the Milwaukee Paranormal Conference, and the Brumder Mansion invite you to explore the shadowy territory where fact and folklore intermingle in weird and wonderful ways. Savor a mysterious midnight treat, for one night only: David Parr’s Midnight Magic Show!

Step into the boots of Wild Bill Hickok for the most famous, or infamous, poker game in history!

Explore a notorious urban legend — fact or fiction?

Sit in on a 19th-century séance, where restless spirits communicate in code.

You might begin to doubt the evidence of your senses as objects move of their own accord, hidden thoughts are revealed, and cryptic messages are written by invisible hands. Is some mysterious force at work in the Brumder Mansion? The answer is yes. His name is David Parr.

You’ll find that Mr. Parr is well qualified to host a celebration of the magical and mysterious. He is the creator and co-star of Chicago’s longest-running magic show, The Magic Cabaret, now celebrating its tenth anniversary! The Magic Cabaret was chosen by the Travel Channel as one of the top nine magic shows in the nation! (Because top ten lists are so passé.)

Magic fans might recognize David Parr from his appearance on the hit TV show Penn & Teller: Fool Us on The CW network. In an episode titled “Does This Trick Ring a Bell?” (Season 4, Episode 5), David’s magic skills were put to the ultimate test in front of the cameras, a live audience of hundreds, millions of TV viewers, and two very savvy magicians. (Spoiler alert…) He totally fooled Penn & Teller and took home the coveted Fool Us trophy — and won a guest spot in their live show in Las Vegas!

In the hidden world of magicians, David is best known for his theatrical performing style and his writing and teaching skills. He is the author of several very well-regarded books for magicians and has provided guidance and instruction to wonder-workers all over the world, including at the prestigious Magic Castle in Hollywood. For a decade or so, David was a featured columnist, proofreader, and editor for the world’s top magic journal, MAGIC Magazine. His thought-provoking writings about the art of magic have also been featured in publications in Germany, France, the Netherlands, Australia, and Sweden.

“Parr explores the outskirts of the human imagination: folklore and fairy tales, poltergeists and psychic powers. A celebration of the weird and wonderful in everyday life.” —Capital Times

AMAZING! After a fantastic horrorpunk themed Friday the 13th Fest last May, show collaborators Tea Krulos and Skully Sati decided to return with another celebration of the notoriously unlucky day. This time around they’ve assembled a classical carnival theme with bluegrass music and sideshow style performance. There will be acts involving swords, snakes, veils, and more! You’ll not be disappointed, but you may leave feeling a lil’ dirty!

Take a look at our sensational performers:

The mystical Skully Sati, a new take on old school burlesque. She seduces and charms with her wicked and unique musings!

skully

The mesmerizing Nina Nazir, a belly-dancing beauty who entrances onlookers with her ability to perform effortlessly to any type of music including traditional belly dancing, rock, and modern fusion.

PLUCKY! Featuring guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, and fiddle, Milwaukee bluegrass band The MilBillies will provide the perfect soundtrack for our Dust Bowl era themed evening. Scotty Damned (of Creepy Little Things) will act as our evening’s ringleader as emcee of the show.

madisonherpmadherpherp3madisonherps

LIVE! Perhaps the most unique feature of the show is a mini-reptile zoo where people can see a sampling of animals from the Fox Valley Herpetological Society (a derivative of the Madison Area Herpetological Society), a group that educates enthusiasts and the general public about frequently misunderstood reptiles and amphibians.

We’ll also have a Wheel-O-Prizes people can spin for $1 to win tarot readings, drinks, Milwaukee Paranormal Conference swag, candy, and more!

It’ll be a night to remember!
