October 15th brings the Raven’s Ball, the official after party for the 2016 Milwaukee Paranormal Conference, to the Irish Cultural & Heritage Center.
Hosted by Professor Pinkerton Xyloma of Dead Man’s Carnival, the evening’s goings on will make it the heavy weight champion of Halloween parties.
This amazing night of entertainment will include members of DMC, along with a special show by the local American Tribal style Tamarind Tribal Belly Dance troupe, whose specialty is group improvisation. Their performance for the evening is to incorporate swords, skirts, and veils into their dances, while dressed in their intricate, colorful traditional belly dance outfits and swaying to an auditory backdrop provided by eastern European-style folk trio Gnarrenschiff.
Madison-based paranormal/sci fi acoustic rock duo Sunspot, an act known for pushing the edges of entertainment and technology while creating rock anthems that blend the uncanny and fantastic with universal experience (also recognized for their podcast “See You On The Other Side”, a show featuring interviews and discussions of pop culture and paranormal themes), will contribute their blend of vocals, violin, and guitar in their scheduled performance for the evening.
A special production by Quasimondo Theatre will include a surprise mystery guest, and DJ trio Subspace closes out the show with their eclectic blend of music and coordinated video clips sampled from numerous sources, focusing on tracks you won’t hear on the radio – namely industrial, synthwave, and chiptunes.
An all-night costume contest, presented by official event sponsor “Alcoholmanac” offers different prizes for a variety of ‘best’ costumes, including best adaptation of a paranormal theme, best Edgar Allan Poe-themed costume, and best character from television/movies, along with others.
Milwaukee-area tarot reader Skully Sati and medium Michele Blaylock will also be on-hand to provide insight into the future for guests who are so inclined.
Admission is free to all 2-day Super Pass and VIP Pass holders or can be purchased for $8 advance ($10 at door) at milwaukeeparacon.brownpapertickets.com. The event runs from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. The Irish Cultural & Heritage Center is located at 2133 W. Wisconsin Avenue in Milwaukee.
